Staff Theft

Many managers would like to think that their employees would never steal from their company, however it is a sad fact that many employees have stolen from their place of work at some time or another.

It would be naïve to think otherwise. In fact, dishonest employees cost businesses much more than shoplifters! Some employees infrequently steal items of little value, and may even feel that this is their right as an employee! However, other employees steal higher value items, either luxury items that they cannot afford or goods for resale. This is a serious problem that must be addressed, sooner rather than later. If an incident is not investigated promptly, the message is sent to employees that this behaviour is ok. One of the best ways to keep track of your goods is to maintain strict inventory control. You should be able to identify what is going missing, and when. If you become aware that you are losing a lot of stock, or perhaps you only have a suspicion, we can help.

Another type of employee theft to consider is that your employees may simply take money straight from the till. The temptation of easy money proves to be too much for some unscrupulous employees. Does your till never balance at the end of the day? Maybe it does balance, but you feel that the total should be much higher?

We can covertly monitor your store by installing hidden cameras, to determine what is going on when your back is turned. And we all know that the camera never lies. With years of experience in management, our Director Cedric Hardiman is well aware of the HR issues involved in a staff investigation. We will competently manage the investigation to ensure that you are not stung by expensive personal grievance claims. Our video footage will stand up in a court of law, and we can also interview staff and obtain admissions of guilt to aid with the prosecution. We highly recommend that all instances of staff theft are treated very seriously, and that the guilty party is prosecuted wherever possible.
